Back in 2017, bachelor Andrew Jury was cast as one of the original cast members on the reality TV show “Married at First Sight New Zealand.” During the show, he was matched up with Vicky Gleeson-Stokes, and they got married on the show; however, they broke up shortly after the show ended.
Sadly, Jury has died at the age of 33 years old. Deadline reports that Jury was in prison at Mt Eden Corrections Facility in Auckland, New Zealand, at the time of his death. He died just hours before he was scheduled to appear in court for charges including “assault with intent to injure, willful damage and possession of an offensive weapon.”
Jury’s father, Ron Jury, claims his son was “struggling” in jail. He described Jury’s family as “deeply saddened” and “bewildered.”
Now, Jury’s former castmates are sharing touching thoughts about Jury and their memories of him on the show. In a joint statement released to the New Zealand Herald, castmates including Brett and Angel Renall explained, “It’s with the heaviest hearts we’ve come together to acknowledge the passing of Andrew Jury.” They added, “We had the absolute pleasure of filming and participating in a show which leaves us intricately linked for a lifetime.”
A spokesperson for Warner Bros Discovery (WBC) said in a statement, “Warner Bros Discovery expresses our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Andrew Jury.” The spokesperson added, “WBD takes duty of care extremely seriously and has protocols in place regarding the wellbeing of cast and crew. All MAFS NZ contributors have access to mental health professionals throughout the process, including pre-screening, during production and after broadcast.”
