More and more actors seem to be coming forward and outing Hollywood for not being as fair as expected. Years since her biggest gig of all time was canceled, Roseanne Barr has come clean on what happened and how it affected her for the rest of her life. Famous for her self-titled sitcom, Roseanne is a household name.
Being fired is nothing short of a horrible experience, especially when you feel it was unfairly done. The industry in Hollywood can sometimes be cutthroat. It has been said that to make it in showbiz, one gives up a lot of themself for the title of fame and glory on the silver screen. Did Roseanna cross the line? Was she justly or unjustly ousted from her comeback in her career? Thats not for us to say, but Roseanna Barr wants people to know she wasn’t happy about it.
Roseanne was let go five years ago from the show “The Conners” but that wasn’t all…
Not only was Roseanne Barr fired from the show “The Conners,” her hit show, “Roseanne,” where she became famous, was also canceled. This left her feeling heartbroken because things were handled rather spitefully. Roseanne is not one to go without a fight, and she thereafter decided it was time to do something for herself.
The standup comedy special, “Roseanne Barr: Can This!” was promptly born
A documentary will be released around the same time which tells the real story of Roseanne’s life. Her story is titled “Who Is Roseanne Barr?” She now gets to celebrate her success on her own, but it hasn’t been this way for quite some time. It all started with a tweet.
In May 2018, Roseanne tweeted that Valerie Jarett, the President’s advisor was “the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes.” She soon realized her mistake and jumped online to formally apologize to Jarett directly. But the show executives refused her entry.
“I’m a lot of things, a loud mouth, and all that stuff,” Barr said on a podcast. “But I’m not stupid, for God’s sake. I never would have wittingly called any black person, I never would have said, ‘They are a monkey.’ I just wouldn’t do that. And people think that I did that, it just kills me. I didn’t do that. And if they do think that, I’m just so sorry that I was unclear and stupid. I’m very sorry.”
“During the initial call, I told them I thought [Jarret] was white. I said I would go on my show and explain it. They wouldn’t let me. They decided I was a liar in my apology.” She said, discussing the event openly. She felt denied the opportunity to right her wrongs and claimed that her entire livelihood was lost due to the decision.

Facing the consequences and healing internally, she is ready to take on Hollywood like never before
So where does Sarah Gilbert fit into all of this? Well, according to Roseanne, she made matters worse for Barr when she tweeted something sinister just minutes before she was let go from both shows. In the tweet, she made it very clear that Barr had acted independently and that the remainder of the crew had nothing to do with the offensive tweet.
Shocked by Sarah’s actions and a blatant disregard for years of teamwork on the show, Barr confessed: “She destroyed the show and my life with that tweet. She will never get enough until she consumes my liver with a fine Chianti.”
Roseanne thought of the tweet as malicious and intentionally damaging, but Gilbert defended herself a while thereafter claiming that she meant entirely the opposite. She also mentioned that she misses Barr and still considers her family. They did, after all, share years on set together. It took years to heal from the trauma of that day. Everything changed, and Roseanne is finally ready to take on the future.
Once thinking that there was no light left at the end of the tunnel for her, Roseanne has since found new hope
“It was a witch-burning. And it was terrifying… I would die many times.” She mentioned the events that followed that day she and many others would never forget. It was even harder that not only the network, but all her co-stars had turned their backs on her. This left her feeling hopeless and alone. She admitted: “Oh my God, they just hated me so badly. I had never known that they hated me like that.”
Regarding double standards, Roseanne has something to say about Hollywood and the death of her career
Shocked when her show was canceled, Barr was left confused. She never for a minute thought that the show would simply get canceled like that due to such great ratings on air. She reminded us of how a male actor was not held to the same consequences for his actions earlier and that many had done even worse.
“I’m the only person who’s lost everything, whose life’s work was stolen, stolen by people who I thought loved me.” She continued. Sad that the industry was so biased. And even though “The Conners” was still running, she could just not bring herself to watch it. “They killed my character, and… all of that was to say thank you for bringing 28 million viewers, which they never had before and will never see again.” She said.
